Pad Placement Guide

Where to Place Your Gel Pads

Correct pad placement is the most important part of getting results with your ReliveX. Your device comes with 2 hosts and 2 gel pads. For lower back relief, the placement is the same whether you're dealing with spinal stenosis, sciatica, herniated discs, or general lower back pain.

How to Place Your Pads

  1. Place one pad on the LEFT side of your spine β€” the pad goes horizontally or vertically on the muscles next to the spine.
  2. Place the other pad on the RIGHT side β€” mirroring the first pad on the opposite side.
  3. Keep about 2-3 cm between the pads β€” target the area around your belt line (L3-L5 region).

Important: Not Directly on the Spine!

The pads go on the muscles around the spine (the multifidus muscles) β€” one on each side. This targets the deep support muscles that stabilize your spine, rather than the vertebrae themselves. This is what makes NMES therapy so effective for back conditions.

Placement Tips for Your Condition

Spinal Stenosis

Focus on the lower back (L3-L5 area). During evening sessions, you can alternate to include the hips for better decompression support. Consistent daily use helps reduce nerve compression over time.

Sciatica

Start with both pads on the lower back. During flare-ups, move one pad to the glute or outer hip on the affected side β€” this helps target the sciatic nerve pathway directly.

Herniated Disc / Bulging Disc

Place pads on the lower back, centered below the pain point. Focus on the muscles surrounding the affected disc. Avoid pressing the pads too firmly β€” let the adhesive do the work.

Every person is different, but here's what most of our customers experience when using their ReliveX consistently with 2 sessions per day.

Week 1-2
Getting Used to It
Your muscles begin to respond to the stimulation. You may feel tingling or light pulsing β€” this is completely normal. Some people feel relief within the first few sessions, others need 7-10 days. Both are normal. Muscles begin to loosen, and you may notice less stiffness when standing up.
Week 3-4

Troubleshooting

Common Questions & Quick Fixes

Most issues can be solved in seconds. Here are the most common ones.

I don't feel anything during use

This is common, especially if you have nerve damage or reduced sensitivity. Increase the intensity gradually β€” some people need Level 12+ to feel stimulation. Try placing pads on your arm first to confirm the device works. Allow at least 30 days of consistent use. Your body needs time to adapt.

It feels uncomfortable or stinging

Lower the intensity to the minimum and increase slowly. Make sure your skin is clean and dry β€” no lotions or creams. Check that the gel pads are clean and not worn out. If an area feels sensitive, move the pads slightly outward. Mild tingling during the first sessions is normal and part of the adjustment phase.

My gel pads won't stick

Clean your skin with water (no soap or lotion). Clean the pads gently with a little water and let them dry completely. Always reapply the protective film after each use. If adhesion is weak after many uses, it's time for fresh pads β€” this is normal after 25-30 sessions.

My device won't turn on or charge

Make sure the charging case is fully charged first (all 4 LED lights solid). Ensure the hosts click firmly into the charging slots. Try a different USB-C cable or wall adapter. If the LED indicators don't respond at all, the charging source may be the issue β€” try a different outlet or USB port.
